This super refreshing and nutritious yet easy to make pink grapefruit refresher is my go to breakfast especially on my lazy days.
I like grapefruits and I try to eat as much as possible since they have so many health benefits and they are low in calories, but I was never able to eat a good amount at once because of their tanginess. I could never finish a whole grapefruit, and that’s how I came up with this refresher.
This time I put some pineapples since I felt like I needed extra vitamin C, but you can add pretty much any fruit, and it makes so much easier to eat grapefruits. So for those of you who are wondering what kind of health benefits grapefruits have, grapefruits are a great source of vitamin C and lycopene. Lycopene helps greatly to fight oxygen free radicals, which are compounds that can damage your cells. What this means is that they basically reduce the chances of you getting cancer or any other illnesses. Now Lycopene can only be found in pink or red grapefruits, so I highly recommend to eat pink or red grapefruits rather than white ones. Some other benefits of grapefruits are that they are rich in antioxidants, and they also contain a type of fiber called pectin, and they help to lower cholesterol.
- 1 Organic pink grapefruit (I usually get my organic produce at Down to Earth)
- Few pieces of pineapple
- Few mint leaves
- Sparkling water (I personally like San Pellegrino)
Cut the pineapples and the grapefruit into small pieces, place them in a glass or a bowl, and pour the sparkling water into it. Top it off with mint leaves.
This is super easy, delicious, and nutritious, and it’s also a great way to start your day.
