Apart from starting a blog, traveling long term was definitely one of the things that I needed to do. I love to travel and I used to consider myself quite well traveled, but there were still so many places I wanted to go and see for myself. So I had been planning for it for about a year and been saving just enough for me to take a break from my work.
When you think about leaving your job to travel, as exciting as it sounds it sounds scary. It did to me at first too, especially because I was doing well and I enjoyed what I did. But my desire to go travel didn’t even compare to my passion towards my work, so I decided to go. It’s that simple.
There are actually many ways you can do it. Just quitting you job would be one way. If you are not sure about quitting your job, you can try to take a sabbatical leave. Although I was ready to quit my job, when I told my boss he suggested I take a sabbatical leave instead so I did. Either way it’s important to keep a good relationship with your managers in case you want to come back.
In total I traveled for 4 months in Asia, Europe, and North and South America, and it was one of the best decisions I have made in my life. I met so many people from all over the world, and it completely broadened my mindset. More than anything else, I met my soul mate while I was traveling.
I’m planning on posting separate blogs for specific countries and places I went later on.
